Emanuel de la Torre Quiroz
PIANIST

Biography
Mexican-German pianist Emanuel de la Torre Quiroz stands out as one of the most prodigiously gifted musical minds of his generation. Endowed with absolute pitch and an exceptional ability to decode complex musical scores at lightning speed, Emanuel combines a razor-sharp analytical intellect with a naturally expressive, singing tone at the piano—described by Chief Conductor of the Philharmonie Salzburg, Elisabeth Fuchs, as a "Wunderkind," and by the press as "a quiet young man who becomes a lion on stage."
Born in Munich in 2012 into a family of Mexican opera singers, Emanuel’s competitive journey began at age ten when he won First Prize at Jugend musiziert (2023). Since then, the multi-award-winning pianist has earned 11 First Prizes in major competitions and has consistently reached the finals and podiums in prestigious international venues across Paris, New York, Salzburg, Prague, Munich, Switzerland, and the Netherlands. As a distinguished Bundespreisträger, his performances have drawn widespread acclaim, with the jury of the Landeswettbewerb Jugend musiziert praising his "highly refined (hochkultiviert) touch, sensitive musical craftsmanship, and remarkable beauty of sound."
Emanuel made his acclaimed debut at the Mozarteum Salzburg (Solitär Hall) at age twelve, followed by his debut at New York’s legendary Carnegie Hall at age thirteen. Following his First Prize win at the Grand Concours International de Piano in Paris, Jury President Svetlana Eganian remarked: "His technical means are invisible and serve the music perfectly... I love his very dignified way of playing." Likewise, Vladimir Holeš, Director of the Gustav Mahler Institute Prague, praised his interpretations for their "attractive range of tonal colors, excellent rhythmic drive, and deep musical conviction."
A versatile performer with a strong affinity for modern music, Emanuel was invited as a member of the Junge Akademie für Neue Musik 2026 (Jugend komponiert Bayern e.V.), where he recorded works by Helmut Lachenmann and Nino Rota for the academy’s Chamber:Lab CD release. During the academy's intensive workshops, he worked closely with renowned contemporary music specialists including Jean-Pierre Collot, Nina Janßen-Deinzer, Minas Borboudakis, and Henrik Ajax. His broader artistic growth has been enriched by masterclasses with distinguished masters such as Vovka Ashkenazy, Prof. Ilja Scheps, and Lilian Akopova, alongside a special artistic mentorship session with legendary pianist Prof. Gerhard Oppitz.
Currently studying under Martina Hussmann, Emanuel’s career is supported by Mexico's prestigious FONCA Fellowship, Germany’s Hans-Sawallisch-Stiftung, and the Förderverein der Musikschule Vaterstetten. His rapid rise has captured widespread media attention across Germany, featuring prominent profiles on Klassik Radio, München TV, and the Münchner Merkur.
